Kathmandu.  The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court (SC) against former chairman of Nepal Insurance Authority Surya Prasad Silwal.

Silwal was acquitted by the Special Court in a short span of time in a case filed by the CIAA on the charge of corruption by availing government facilities by submitting false evidence regarding his age.

Crest

The CIAA had filed a corruption case against Silwal at the Special Court just a few months before his four-year term expired. The Special Court had given clean chit to Silwal on December 15, 2081.

The anti-graft body had filed a case against Silwal for falsifying his age, misusing the diplomatic passport and special passport by lowering his retirement age and misusing the amount of Rs 36,62,154 for continuing in public service even after the mandatory retirement age.

The CIAA was criticized for tampering with the investigation and failing to present concrete evidence and filing the case in a hurry with the intention of appeasing the ruling party.
