Kathmandu. The highest number of claims have been paid towards property insurance in the damage caused by floods and landslides caused by incessant rains in the second week of October last year.
This has been seen from the details received from the non-life insurers till June 15 made public by the Nepal Insurance Authority. Fourteen non-life insurers and four small non-life insurers have paid Rs 3.44 billion out of 1,415 claims under property insurance for the damage caused by floods and landslides.
So far, 1,787 claims under property insurance have received Rs 8.40 billion. Now the insurers are yet to pay Rs 4.45 billion for 404 claims.
Similarly, the second highest number of claims have been paid by engineering and contractor risk insurance. A total of 319 claims worth Rs 2.98 billion were filed in the insurers. Of these, insurers have already paid Rs 703 million for 193 claims and Rs 2.09 billion for 131 claims.
In the third place, the claim payment has been made towards motor insurance (private). The insurer has paid Rs 443.2 million for a total of 952 claims, of which Rs 372.2 million has been paid for 856 claims so far. Rs 73 million is yet to be paid for 100 claims.
Similarly, rs 282.7 million has been paid for 345 claims under motor insurance (public), Rs 37.1 million for 73 claims under livestock insurance, Rs 17.8 million for 21 claims under marine insurance, Rs 10.5 million for 131 claims under agriculture and crop insurance and Rs 8.5 million for 22 miscellaneous claims. The insurers are yet to pay Rs 44.7 million for 45 claims under motor insurance (public), Rs 5.2 million for three claims under livestock insurance, Rs 19.3 million for three claims under marine insurance, Rs 1.8 million for six claims for agriculture and crop insurance and Rs 2.4 million for four claims under miscellaneous.
So far, rs 4.87 billion has been paid to 3,056 claims to the insurers. Now the insurers are yet to pay Rs 6.69 billion for 696 claims.
