Kathmandu. The first annual general meeting of the Nepal Stock Market Investors Association (NEA) was held in Kathmandu on Friday. The AGM elected a 13-member new working committee under the chairmanship of Hari Bahadur KC for a two-year term. It has promised to make the capital market more dignified by ensuring the rights of investors.
The AGM was formally inaugurated by NEPSE Chief Executive Officer Chudamani Chapagain. The welcome address was given by the outgoing president Dr. Mr. Keshav Prasad Shrestha welcomed all the office-bearers, members and invited guests and highlighted the purpose of the association and its future needs.
On the occasion, CEO of Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Chapagain compared the relationship between the regulatory body and the investor association with the responsibility of a son and father and presented an in-depth discussion on the role of investors in the development of the market.
Former judge of Patan High Court, Salahuddin Akhtar Siddiqui, President of Nepal Shareholders’ Association Ghanashyam Pandey, President of General Investors’ Association Ritu Jung GC, and General Secretary of Securities Investors Association Prakash Rajaure were present on the occasion.
General Secretary Khagendra Raj Kandel (Rabin) presented the annual progress report of the previous year while Treasurer Machhindra Basnet presented the auditing report. It was approved by the assembly.
Former President Dr. Keshav Prasad Shrestha presented his views on the objectives of the establishment of the association, experience of the ad-hoc committee and future course of action.
The newly elected 13-member executive committee was also sworn in. The General Meeting has elected the following office bearers and members for a two-year term

On the occasion, the newly elected office bearers and members were administered oath of office and secrecy by the returning officer.
On the occasion, newly-elected President Hari Bahadur KC thanked all the members and expressed commitment to make the rights and welfare of investors and healthy development of market as the main agenda of his tenure.
