Kathmandu. Vianet has apologized to its esteemed customers for the recent internet and ViaTV service disruption.
On September 10, at around 4:45 pm, a fire broke out during the demonstration and damaged Vianet’s main data center located on the fourth floor of the Central Business Park (the building housing Kantipur Media Group).
Although the company has backup data centers, the sudden loss of such critical infrastructure is not enough to handle all of their customers’ internet traffic, causing a nationwide outage.
The company has already deployed a technical team. However, they could not enter the building immediately as it was unsafe. In the meantime, the internet could be partially accessed through a backup data center. However, many customers are still affected and have apologized.
