Finance Ministry holds discussions with 16 ministries on upcoming budget

Kathmandu. The Ministry of Finance has concluded discussions with 16 ministries regarding the budget preparation for the fiscal year 2082/083. In this context, discussions were held with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Aviation today.

In the discussions with the ministries, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel had urged to prioritize policy shifts over budget figures. He emphasized the essence and spirit of federalism, the role of the federal, provincial and local levels, the transfer of programs and projects in the federation according to the roles of the provincial and local levels, and coordination and partnership between the three levels of government. He said that federalism will not be strong if the work done by the provinces and local levels is done by the federation.

Finance Minister Poudel has urged to review all past programs and plans and focus on federal plans, stop, reduce, adjust programs and plans, continue essential programs, and include smart programs and plans that connect with the people according to the changing times. He has also requested not to include projects worth less than Rs 30 million.

Similarly, Finance Minister Poudel has also emphasized on prioritizing plans and programs that are being studied and implemented. He also urged the government to submit realistic proposals without having to make any changes or revisions while submitting programs and plans.

The Finance Minister said that a disciplined and realistic budget will be presented to address the aspirations of the people and the needs of the nation, taking into account the available resources.

Two days ago, the Ministry of Finance had discussed with thematic ministries and urged them to pay special attention to budget allocation as well as capital expenditure.

The Ministry of Finance has been holding separate discussions with the concerned ministries, including the National Planning Commission. The Ministry of Finance says that when the program and budget are presented in coordination between the three parties, ownership in implementation will increase and appropriate results will be achieved. .

The Ministry of Finance had earlier held discussions with the Ministries of Physical Development, Urban Development, Communication, Education, Defense, Home, Sports, Land Reforms, Agriculture, Drinking Water, Federal Affairs, Industry, Health, Energy, Women and Children. The Ministry of Finance is also scheduled to hold discussions with the remaining ministries regarding the upcoming budget.
