Kathmandu. Today is the fifth day of Bhai Tika. In the Vedic period, Bhai Tika is celebrated as the day when Yamraj went to get tika with his sister Yamuna by putting his daily work on hold. The auspicious time for Bhai Tika today is 11:39 am.
According to the religious belief, Yamuna wished for the long life of her brother Yamraj by wearing a garland of flowers that never fade and a seven-colored tika symbolizing the seven colors of the sun. In memory of this day, the people of the earth have been celebrating Tihar or Bhai Tika.
On this day, sisters pray for the long life of their brothers. After giving Bhai Tika, it is customary for brothers to give money or gifts to their sisters according to their capacity. Similarly, it is customary for sisters to give tika and garlands to brothers and give them spices. Yamapanchakam is also coming to an end.
