Kathmandu. The biggest health insurance scam has been busted in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, India.
It has been revealed that millions of rupees have been cheated by showing fake patient admission at Decent Hospital. The police have also arrested Rishav Singh, a close aide and employee of the hospital, after the owner of the hospital, Shamsul Qamar, who was involved in this fraud.
How was the fraud exposed?
The WhatsApp chat found on the mobile phone has revealed the entire plan. It is alleged that patients were treated without admission and insurance companies were cheated of crores of rupees by making fake bills. Gorakhpur: The Gorakhpur police have busted a Rs 1.20 crore health insurance and Ayushman card fraud. Ramgarh Tal police have arrested Rishabh, a trusted aide of Shamshul, who runs Decent Hospital.
Fake Patients and Fake Treatment
It has been alleged that insurance companies have been defrauded of more than Rs 1.8 crore by providing fake patient admissions, false reports and fake treatment on the pretext of Decent and Apex hospitals. The scam came to light after the family of the person said to be sick had never been admitted to the hospital. However, the record shows admissions, treatment and testing.
According to the in-charge of Ramgarh Tal police station, Rishabh was not confined to a hospital. He was involved in faking billing and preparing documents for several private hospitals in the city. The investigation is revealing an organised network spread across the city.
