Relations between the US and Europe could also be affected after the EU penalty. Us President Donald Trump has already threatened to impose tariffs on countries that impose fines on American companies.

This penalty has been imposed under the Digital Marketing Act. This law ensures the entry of small players in the midst of dominance of large companies in the market. In this case, Apple has said that it will challenge the EU’s fine in court.

“Today’s decision is yet another example of apple being unfairly targeted by the European Commission,” apple said in a statement. It’s part of a series of actions that are detrimental to the privacy and security of our users and products and force us to give our technology for free. ’

Ta has also criticised the EU’s decision. “The EU is trying to cripple successful U.S. businesses, while Chinese and European companies are being allowed to operate under different standards,” the company said in a statement. ’

“It’s not about fines, the EU is pressuring us to change the business model,” Meta said. Meta is expected to offer low-quality services by charging billions of dollars. ’
