Kathmandu. Employees of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) have demanded the resignation of its chairman Santosh Narayan Shrestha.
The Independent Employees Association of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) and the Employees’ Union jointly issued a press release demanding this. Both the organizations have also decided not to allow Shrestha to enter the office after he did not resign.
The employees have been protesting since the Ministry of Finance wrote a letter to the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) on September 2. “Although the employees and the active unions and unions are fully flexible to return to work by ending the struggle, there is no concrete effort from the Chairman and the Board of Directors to resolve the problem,” the statement reads, “Therefore, we believe that the Chairman of the Board who cannot stand by protecting the interests of the employees and the past decisions of the Board of Directors is not fit to remain in the post for 1 minute on moral grounds.” Therefore, the chairman of the board should resign from his post and pave the way. The Chairman of the Board shall not be allowed to enter the office of the Board until he does so. ’
Stating that the Ministry of Finance has not made adequate efforts to address the difficult situation created in the Securities Board of Nepal and that the government’s goal of development and expansion of capital market by closing the regulator of the capital market has not been achieved, the employees have demanded to immediately withdraw the decision of the Revenue Secretary level to revoke the working procedure issued by the Board of Directors of the Securities Board of Nepal and to keep the autonomy of the Board intact.
