Employees of CEBON and NEPSE have been protesting since Tuesday, putting forth various demands. They are scheduled to submit a memorandum and stage a sit-in today.
On Tuesday, the employees of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) snatched the vehicle keys of the deputy director and the chairman and padlocked the office and office. Employees of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) have been protesting against the Ministry of Finance’s unnecessary interference. They have demanded that the Securities Board be established as an autonomous body.
One of the main reasons for the employees of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) to protest is the directive circular issued by the Ministry of Finance on September 2. The circular has asked the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) to implement the 3-point directive.
Here are the instructions
- Clause 22, Section 116 of the Securities Board Act, 2063, Section 15 of the Legislation Act, 2081, Government of Nepal (Division of Work) Regulations, 2074 and Regulation 167 of the Securities Board Employees Service Regulations, 2068 BS issued in contravention of the Securities Board Employees Welfare Fund Procedure, 2071 and the Securities Board of Nepal Employees Protection Fund (Operation and Management) Procedure, 2075 to be revoked immediately.
- Immediately initiate the process to recover the amount paid from the fund in the past as government dues on the basis of the procedures made against the prevailing laws.
- } To implement the provision that consent of the Ministry of Finance must be obtained before taking any financial liability decision.
The employees of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) are dissatisfied with the directives of the Ministry of Finance. “We are preparing to submit a memorandum with some demands along with the immediate revocation of these directives of the Ministry of Finance,” said an employee of the Securities Board of Nepal, adding, “We will continue the protest if our demands are not met immediately.” ’
On the other hand, NEPSE employees have been agitating over the allowance they are entitled to. On Tuesday, NEPSE Chairman Hemanta Basyal and CEO Chudamani Chapagain were detained in their office. Late in the evening, they handed over the demand letter and allowed both of them to leave the office.
Today, NEPSE employees are scheduled to stage a sit-in to pile pressure on them to press for their demands. “We are staging a sit-in today and the agitation will continue until our demands are met,” one of the employees said.
