Kathmandu. Eleven candidates have filed their candidacies for the vacant post of Executive Director of the Health Insurance Board.
Dr. Damodar Basaula’s term as Executive Director ended on November 25. After three months of the vacancy of the post of Executive Director, the recommendation committee formed by the Ministry of Health and Population issued a notice on January 24 and called for applications. The last date for submitting applications was February 4.
The committee has made public the names of 11 candidates who have met the qualifications as per Section 21 of the Health Insurance Act, 2074 BS and fulfilled the conditions specified in the call for applications. The applicants include Gang Prasad Joshi, Dr Shakti Basnet, Ram Pratav Yadav, Dr Sagar Kumar Rajbhandari and Ram Prasad Poudel.
Similarly, Shambhu Prasad Gyawali, Kamal Panthi, Dr Krishna Prasad Adhikari, Dr Pramod Kumar Yadav, Homnath Neupane and Dr Raghuraj Kafle have also submitted applications for the post of Executive Director.
The committee has moved forward the appointment process of the Executive Director through open competition. While submitting the application, the candidate has been asked to submit a copy of the required educational qualification certificate, a copy of the citizenship certificate, and an action plan with a concept paper.
The committee has stated that the presentation of the business action plan with the concept paper and the information regarding the interview will be published later. The committee will now shortlist the names of 5 people from among the applicants and invite them for the action plan presentation and interview. After that, the committee will select the names of at least 3 people who score the highest marks and recommend them to the Council of Ministers. The Council of Ministers will appoint one of those candidates as the Executive Director of the Insurance Board.
