Kathmandu. BYD Seagull or Dolphin Mini has won the Title of World Urban Car of the Year under the prestigious World Car Awards program. BYD won this award as the first Chinese automotive brand, competing with 11 of the best vehicles from around the world at the New York International Auto Show held in New York on April 16, 2025.

BYD Seagull embodies the Ocean Aesthetics design philosophy – which makes it fresh, engaging and modern. High safety standards, smart driving features and excellent city-friendly performance have consistently established this model as a best-seller in various major markets.
This time, 96 international judges of the World Car Awards were impressed by the car’s pioneering design, unparalleled urban mobility performance and universal market appeal.

IN recent years, BYD has been taking a leap in the international market. In 2024, BYD Dolphins also made it to the top 3 of the World Urban car, while BYD SEAL was ranked in the top 3 of the World Car of the Year, a feat no Chinese automaker has achieved so far.
Cymex Inc. Pvt. Ltd., the authorized distributor of BYD in Nepal, has already tested the BYD Seagull on Nepali roads. The company has indicated that it will soon launch its official launch in Nepal. This model has been very much awaited in the Nepali market.
