Doctors to suspend OPD services in hospitals across the country tomorrow

Kathmandu. The Nepal Doctors’ Association (NMA) has threatened to shut down the outpatient services of hospitals across the country on Friday.

According to the Association, all medical services except emergency treatment services and intensive care services will remain closed in hospitals across the country on Friday.

The association has been agitating demanding implementation of the decision to give subsistence allowance to the resident doctors at par with the eighth level of the government. The association held a demonstration at Maitighar Mandala on Thursday and held a meeting with Minister for Health and Population Pradeep Poudel. Association President Anil Bikram Karki said in a statement that no progress has been made in meeting the demands of the association.

All government and private hospitals, institutes, medical colleges and clinics have been closed on Friday and called for solidarity with the movement. Niraj Singh said.

The Association has said that it will continue to gherao the Ministry of Health and Population on Friday and the District Administration Office in Mofussil.

The 16th plenary meeting of the Medical Education Commission had decided to give Rs 48,737 to the resident doctors. Private medical colleges are reluctant to implement this decision, saying it will not be retrospective.
