Disaster Management Council decides to intensify search and rescue operations for those missing in floods

Kathmandu.  A meeting of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council has decided to make the search and rescue operation of the missing more effective.

A meeting of the Council chaired by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Tuesday evening decided to expedite the relief and rescue operations after returning from the flood-affected areas after an on-site inspection of the flood and landslide at Rasuwa border point on Tuesday morning.

Making public the decision of the meeting through his Facebook page, PM Oli said that it has been decided to coordinate with friendly country China through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to restore the Miteri bridge and road on the Bhotekoshi River connecting Nepal and China.

The meeting directed the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport to make arrangements for the operation of road infrastructure and decided to make preparations for the smooth operation of alternative checkpoints with China.

The Prime Minister directed the concerned ministries to make arrangements for the immediate repair and operation of the damaged customs, immigration, hydropower project infrastructures and arrangements would be made to facilitate the loss of containers, vehicles and other materials of the entrepreneurs. TAG_OPEN_div_14 The meeting decided to provide immediate relief to the families of the deceased and missing as per the prevailing law and provide free treatment to the injured.

The meeting expressed gratitude to the security personnel and local people involved in the search and rescue operation in the risky situation.
