Directives to immediately stop punishing Nepali language speaking students in school premises

Kathmandu. The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) office has directed the authorities concerned to immediately stop punishing students who speak Nepali language in the school premises.

Issuing a circular in the name of all community and institutional schools in the municipality area today, the Metropolitan City issued this directive. According to the circular, serious attention has been drawn to the complaints that some schools with English, the medium of teaching and learning, are punishing or fining students if they communicate in Nepali language in the school premises.

Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has directed the authorities concerned to immediately stop penalising or fining students for communicating in Nepali language in the school premises by making English language compulsory in activities other than english as the medium of instruction.
