Kathmandu. Deposits in banks have crossed Rs 6.8 trillion. Only 80 per cent of the total deposits have been invested by banks.
According to Nepal Rastra Bank data, the total deposits of banks and financial institutions have increased to Rs 6,852 billion as of May 15. As of the previous day, the total deposits of banks and financial institutions stood at Rs 6,849 billion.
According to the data, banks and financial institutions have invested Rs 5.51 trillion till May 31. Which is 80.41 percent of the total deposits of banks and financial institutions. As per the regulatory provisions, banks can invest up to 90 per cent of their total deposits.
The total deposits in commercial banks alone have reached Rs 6,120 billion as on May 15. Which is 3 billion rupees more than the previous day.
Commercial banks have invested Rs 4,893 billion in loans till May 31. This investment is 79.95 percent of the total deposits of commercial banks.
The average CD ratio of banks stood at 79.20 per cent as on May 15. The average CD ratio was 79.22 percent the previous day. The bank’s interbank interest rate is 3 percent.
