This rule will also be applicable in five districts around Delhi – Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar and Sonipat. This rule will come into effect in these districts from November 1. For this, the installation of ANPR cameras will have to be completed by October 31.

The remaining districts of NCR have been given time till March 31, 2026 to install cameras. From April 1 next year, old vehicles will not get fuel there.

CAQM wants delhi’s air to be clean. Therefore, it has given this order to the Delhi government.

The CAQM order states that these cameras will be connected to the database of vehicles. This will help identify old vehicles and vehicles without pollution certificates. The Commission has said that petrol pumps should refuse to refuel such vehicles from the stipulated date. Also, the authorities should take action under vehicle scrapping rules.

The CAQM has also said that traffic monitoring systems and control rooms should be used to detect old vehicles on the road. 10-year-old registered diesel vehicles and 15-year-old registered petrol vehicles are called end of life (EOL) vehicles. This decision to take strict action against EOL vehicles is an attempt to reduce pollution in Delhi. This is expected to improve delhi’s air quality.
