Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has concluded that the 7-point agreement has lost its meaning.
Issuing a joint press release today, party general secretaries Bishwa Prakash Sharma and Gagan Kumar Thapa urged the ministers to return from the government as the 7-point agreement has expired. “We urge Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to resign and pave way for new national consensus,” reads the statement.
Conclusions of Congress
He repeatedly urged the government in party meetings, in parliament and in public places that the government should be corrected. But neither the government nor the Prime Minister’s style has been corrected! Eventually, the Prime Minister’s behavior led to further dissatisfaction among the citizens. The oppression of the new generation who have come out on the streets with justified demands such as open social media, control corruption, maintain good governance is condemnable. He didn’t ask for anything. However, due to the inaction of the government, promising youths had to die a brutal death.
The relevance of the 7-point agreement has ended. We have recently requested the party president to recall the party ministers from the government. The president should take a decision immediately, otherwise we will be compelled to take steps by taking a decision through other processes.
The Prime Minister should immediately step down and open the door for the formation of a new national consensus!
We appeal to the Genji generation and we are insisting on fulfilling your just demands. We urge you to play a strong role in making the protest programs restraint and peaceful.
We appeal to all political parties to stand together in the current situation through open dialogue to resolve the issue with patience.
