Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) urges government and industrialists to sit in dialogue

KATHMANDU: The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has expressed serious concern over the situation between industrialists and Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) over the issue of dedicated and trunk line electricity tariffs. The Confederation had suggested the then government to form a high-level commission to resolve the disputes related to dedicated and trunk lines that had been raging for years.

A commission was formed under the chairmanship of former Supreme Court Justice Girish Chandra Lal to resolve the dispute over the electricity tariff of dedicated feeder and trunk line based on the suggestions of the private sector. The commission has already submitted its report to the government and the government has already made public the report.

The CNI clearly believes that it is very necessary to resolve the dispute as the dispute has not been resolved for a long time as it is not sending a good message in the national and international arena and it will have an impact on the investment climate.

At a time when the country’s economy is in a challenging situation and the manufacturing industries are operating by producing goods in low capacity, the NEA has cut off the power line in some industries and the workers working in these industries have also been affected. Therefore, the CNI has urged the industrialists and the government to sit for dialogue and dialogue to resolve the dispute.
