Kathmandu. The Confederation of Nepalese Industries has drawn serious attention to the load shedding in industries that are the backbone of the economy. Some time ago, the Nepal Electricity Authority had exported electricity by causing load shedding in Nepal’s industries. The non-availability of electricity to industries had increased production costs and had a serious impact on production. Now, the Authority has again harassed industries by causing load shedding for up to 12 hours a day. Such actions have seriously affected the investment environment in the country and have made it doubtful to seriously consider establishing new industries and expanding them.
At a time when the government is trying to promote domestic industries, improve laws to boost the morale of the private sector, and create an investment environment, the load shedding by the Electricity Authority, a government body, in domestic industries has left the industry in shock.
Even when there is electricity surplus in the country, the Authority, which did not provide sufficient electricity to industries and exported it, has now again encouraged industries not to operate in the country by causing load shedding? The Confederation has said.
Electricity is a raw material for any industry. It is not possible to produce any product in the absence of raw materials. Therefore, the federation has appealed to the government and concerned parties to immediately make arrangements for regular electricity supply to the industry.
