Kathmandu. Nepal Insurance Association has elected a new working committee under the leadership of Siddhartha Premier Insurance Chief Executive Officer Birendra Vaidabar Chhetri. The working committee was unanimously elected after only 1 person applied for all the posts by the last date when the election committee called for applications for candidacy registration.
Election Officer Anand Babu Khadka has informed that the voting program has been canceled as the number of applications for all the posts was not more than the number of posts.
The newly elected president Chhetri is the vice-president of the outgoing working committee. The newly elected working committee will be announced at the 22nd and 23rd annual general meetings to be held at Hotel Radisson on Friday evening. According to the election committee, the vice-chairman is Ashok Kumar Khadka of Neco Insurance, the general secretary is Sunil Ballabh Pant of NLG Insurance, the treasurer is Yugesh Bhakta Bade Shrestha of IGI Prudential Insurance, and the members are Sanchit Bajracharya of Prabhu Insurance, Toton Chakraborty of Oriental Insurance, and Anju Shrestha of Himalayan Everest Insurance.
The general meeting will discuss and approve the annual progress and financial reports for the two fiscal years 2079.80 and 80.81, appoint an auditor, and approve the expenses incurred by the association under social responsibility. The association has 14 non-life insurers affiliated with it.
The current president of Nepal Insurance Association, a common body of non-life insurance companies, is Chunki Chhetri, CEO of Sagarmatha Lumbini General Insurance. The general meeting on 23 Poush 2078 BS had formed a new working committee under the leadership of Chhetri.
