Kathmandu. Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has made a big announcement. He has said that he will give a very small part of his property to his children.
Bill Gates made the announcement while speaking at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He said he would spend most of his wealth to improve Africa’s health and education. “My efforts will help the people of Africa to progress and bring prosperity to all countries,” he said. He said that this work will be done in the next 20 years.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Bill Gates currently has a net worth of $175 billion. He is the fifth richest person in the world. His net worth is expected to be $200 billion over the next 20 years, by 2045.
In such a situation, Bill Gates has decided to give only 1 percent of his total wealth to his children. The remaining 99 per cent will be donated. That is, Bill Gates plans to give $198 billion to Africa over the next 20 years.
“I have recently decided that most of my assets will be donated over the next 20 years,” Gates told 12,000 officials, diplomats and young people present at the African Union headquarters. Much of this money will help overcome the problems facing Africa. ’
Gates described good health and education as the foundation of development. “Every country in Africa can move forward on the path of progress by increasing human capacity through health and education,” he said. It’s very exciting to be a part of this path. ’
Gates’ organization, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, will focus on primary health care. In particular, his emphasis will be on improving the health of the mother and child. Gates said, “We have learned that if the mother is healthy before and during pregnancy and gets good nutrition, it gives very good results. He said that getting good nutrition in the first four years of children is very important for their future.
Bill Gates co-founded Microsoft in 1975 with Paul Allen. The company soon became a major force in the software industry. Years later, Gates gradually distanced himself from the company’s day-to-day operations. He stepped down as CEO in 2000 and chairman in 2014.
