Kathmandu. On an average, more than 2,500 people have access to banking services equivalent to one bank branch in the country.
Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel today held a joint meeting of the Parliament. He made this data public while presenting the Economic Survey of 81. “Financial access has increased. The bank’s branches have reached all the local levels,” said Minister Poudel, adding, “On an average, banking services have been made available to 2,527 people from each branch of banks and financial institutions.” ’
Deposits of banks and financial institutions increased by 9.5 percent and credit from banks and financial institutions to the private sector increased by 7.7 percent in mid-February 2018. The NEPSE index stood at 2736.49 points in mid-February 2019. Access to life insurance has reached 44.17 percent of the population.
