Kathmandu. Nepali citizens cannot exchange foreign currency when they go abroad for travel or employment. Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has set certain criteria for exchange of convertible foreign currency while going abroad for travel or employment other than India.
Issuing a notice for financial awareness today, the central bank has said that Nepalis visiting countries other than India can get exchange facility of up to $ 2,500 or equivalent currency per time for passport.
Such exchange facility can be obtained from banks and financial institutions licensed to carry out foreign exchange transactions from the Rastra Bank on the basis of necessary documents.
Similarly, nepali nationals going to Japan, South Korea, Europe, America, Canada and Australia for foreign employment can get a maximum of US$ 500 and in the case of other countries up to a maximum of US$ 200.
A person seeking exchange facility for passport facility has to submit a copy of air ticket, passport and visa (photocopy).
