Kathmandu. Air India has taken a big decision on Sunday. Tata Group airlines will reduce 118 weekly flights on 19 routes. These flights are operated by narrow-body aircraft.
Air India has also decided to temporarily suspend air services on three routes. Earlier, Air India had announced a 15 per cent reduction in international flights of large-sized aircraft. All these changes are being made only for a short period of time.
The airline said the move was aimed at stabilizing operations across the entire network. This will save passengers from last minute problems.
Air India said in a statement, “We are reducing the network of small-sized aircraft by less than 5 percent. There will be closed services on three routes. The number of flights will be reduced on 19 routes. These changes will be in effect until July 15. ’
Seven weekly flights will remain suspended on Bengaluru-Singapore, Pune-Singapore and Mumbai-Bagdogra routes. The ban will remain in place until at least mid-July. Apart from this, the number of flights on some special domestic routes like Delhi-Bengaluru and Delhi-Mumbai will also be reduced.
Air India said that the purpose of reducing flights is to keep operations stable across the network. The airline said that this will save the passengers from sudden problems.
Earlier on Wednesday, Air India had announced a 15 per cent reduction in flights of large aircraft. Last week, air India’s Boeing 787 crashed with a Dreamliner aircraft. Then there were problems in security checks and operations. – Agency
