Kathmandu. The Nepal Insurance Authority has made public the data on insurance claims and payments for damages caused by floods and landslides that occurred after continuous rains in the second week of Asoj after a month.
After the floods and landslides, the Authority itself had instructed non-life insurers to send details of insurance claim payments every week. However, the Authority has made public the details of flood and landslide claims and payments all at once up to Falgun 21 after Magh 23.
According to the Authority, based on the data received up to Falgun 21, 3,728 claims have been filed in 18 companies, including non-life insurance and non-life micro insurance. It is seen that the companies have to pay Rs 12.64 billion 32 lakh for those claims. So far, insurers have paid Rs 3.56 billion out of 2,478 claims. The data shows that companies have paid only 24.17 percent of the total claims. Companies still have to pay Rs 9.51 billion out of 1,289 claims.
According to the authority, the highest number of claims has been filed with Siddhartha Premier Insurance. This company has filed 513 claims. Its company has to pay Rs 2.65 billion 32 million more. So far, the company has paid Rs 582 million out of 340 claims.
Similarly, Oriental Insurance has to pay Rs 1.37 billion 4 million out of 183 claims. So far, the company has paid Rs 112 million for 163 claims.
Sagarmatha Lumbini has to pay Rs 1.367 billion for 431 claims, Shikhar has to pay Rs 1.1449 billion for 470 claims, Himalayan Everest has to pay Rs 934.1 billion for 255 claims, NLG has to pay Rs 885.6 billion for 215 claims, Sanima GIC has to pay Rs 875.8 billion for 232 claims, Neco Insurance has to pay Rs 866 million for 316 claims and United Ajod has to pay Rs 748 million for 334 claims. So far, Sagarmatha Lumbini has paid Rs 395.5 million out of 261 claims, Shikhar Rs 477.3 million out of 445 claims, Himalayan Everest Rs 251.6 million out of 153 claims, NLG Rs 146.3 million out of 124 claims, Sanima GIC Rs 183.8 million out of 137 claims, Neco Insurance Rs 236.5 million out of 230 claims, and United Ajod Rs 257.8 million out of 159 claims.
As of Falgun 21, National Insurance has paid Rs 476.8 million out of 113 claims, IGI Prudential Rs 413.4 million out of 300 claims, Nepal Insurance Rs 389.9 million out of 187 claims, and Prabhu Insurance Rs 328.4 million out of 136 claims. And the National Insurance Company has to pay Rs 207.8 million for 20 claims. So far, National Insurance has paid Rs 46.6 million for 29 claims, IGI Prudential Rs 261.6 million for 230 claims, Nepal Insurance Rs 54.9 million for 115 claims, Prabhu Insurance Rs 41.8 million for 71 claims and the National Insurance Company has paid Rs 965,000 for one claim.
Similarly, for non-life insurance, Star Micro has to pay Rs 36.65 million for 10 claims, Trust Micro Rs 1.52 million for 3 claims, Nepal Micro Rs 650,000 for 4 claims and Protective Micro Rs 400,000 for 6 claims. So far, Star Micro has paid Rs. 818,000 for 7 claims, Trust Micro has paid Rs. 571,000 for 3 claims, Nepal Micro has paid Rs. 502,000 for 4 claims, and Protective Micro has paid Rs. 279,000 for 6 claims.
