Kathmandu. Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has been found to have fraudulently claimed Rs 72 lakh in the name of the death of a young man in Agra about 19 years ago. The company has filed a case in Agra for submitting the fake insurance claim.

In the case filed on the order of the local court, the manager of LIC said that Anil Singh, a resident of Bhatta Parsaul in Gautam Buddh Nagar, had purchased four insurance policies between 2003 and 2006. In 2006, Vijay Pal Singh informed the insurance company that his son Anil had died in a road accident in Agra. The insurance company then paid a claim of around Rs 72 lakh to the deceased’s father Vijaypal.

In 2023, Anil Singh was arrested by the Ahmedabad police on charges of cheating. Since then, a false story of his murder has been revealed.

A case of Anil’s death was registered at Rakabganj police station in Agra on the basis of information received from Ahmedabad police. On July 30, 2006, Vijaypal Singh, his son Abhay Singh and other accomplices kidnapped a mentally unstable youth. They drugged him, dressed him in Anil Singh’s clothes, and then set his car on fire. He was murdered so that the body could be handed over to Anil.

This whole conspiracy was hatched to grab the insurance money. After the incident, the accused cremated the body and got a claim from the insurance company on the basis of Anil’s death.
