Kathmandu. At present, there are 52 microfinance institutions operating in Nepal. Around 22,000 employees are working in these microfinance institutions.
Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has released the data of the microfinance sector for the month of December of the current fiscal year. According to statistics, the highest number of employees are employed in the neighborhood microfinance. There are 1,253 employees working in the neighborhood microfinance company. Neighborhood Microfinance has been providing microfinance services through 197 branch offices.
Similarly, Nerude Mirmire Microfinance has 1,144 employees. It operates in the microfinance sector through 225 branches.
Nic Asia Microfinance has the highest number of branches at 286. Similarly, Mathrubhumi Microfinance has 236 branches in the second place. NIC Asia Microfinance has 1,019 employees while Mathrubhumi Microfinance has 824 employees.
Microfinance institutions have been providing microfinance services with 21,600 human resources from about 5,000 branches till Mid-December.
