Kathmandu. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has claimed that 95 crore Indian citizens have benefited from the social security program.
Addressing a monthly radio broadcast, ‘Mann Ki Baat’, on Sunday, Modi said that till 2015, the benefits of government schemes were limited to less than 25 crore people.
In a radio broadcast, Modi quoted an International Labour Organisation (ILO) report as saying that more than 64 per cent of India’s population is getting some kind of social security benefit.
“Currently, most of India’s population is receiving rough social security benefits and recently a very important report of the International Labour Organization (ILO) has come out. The report notes that more than 64% of India’s population is now definitely getting some kind of social security benefit,” Modi said.
This is one of the biggest security in the world, he said.
Ayushman Bharat Health Insurance Program is in operation for healthcare in India. A total of 399.4 million facility card cards have been issued under the programme. Under this scheme, the government will bear the medical expenses up to Rs 5 lakh per family.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, the government has been providing free ration to poor poor families. A population of 806.7 million people are getting this benefit.
An e-labour portal has been launched for the social security of workers working in the informal sector. A total of 306.8 million people have enrolled under the programme. 53.68 per cent of those enrolled are women.
Under the Atal Pension Social Security Scheme, 72.5 million poor, poor and informal workers have been benefited. Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana are significant programmes of government social security. The government has already disbursed benefits worth Rs 43,369.98 crore through this programme.
A total of 248 million people have been benefited under the poverty alleviation social security programme.
