Kathmandu. An American couple has embezzled $150,000 (equivalent to Rs. 25 million) in disability insurance by submitting a fake claim.
A couple living in Detroit, Michigan, USA, have succeeded in obtaining disability insurance money through a fake claim. The Michigan Attorney General’s Office has recommended that a case be filed against them.
The couple involved in the insurance fraud are Tukuwa Yong and her husband Brandon Yong. The case against them will be heard in District Court Detroit.
The Attorney General’s Office said Tukua Yong was able to obtain $55,952.70 from an insurance company through three fraudulent claims. Brandon Yong is also accused of obtaining $70,434 through two fraudulent disability insurance claims. All of these payments were made between 2016 and 2022. Tukua then submitted additional fraudulent claims to various companies, obtaining $23,105.73 in payments.
The Yong couple submitted false documents stating that they were disabled and that they were collectively working from home. Which was later proven false during the investigation.
The court hearing on the case against the couple has been scheduled for March 28 and April 7. –Agency
