Kathmandu. A total of 18 demonstrators were killed in Kathmandu and Itahari of Sunsari on Monday.
A total of 16 people injured in police firing died in Kathmandu while those injured in Itahari demonstration died in course of treatment in Dharan.
Among the 16 people injured in the agitation in Kathmandu so far, 7 died in Trauma Centre, 3 in Everest Hospital, 3 in Civil Hospital, 2 in KMC Hospital and 1 in Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital.
On the other hand, 2 people were injured in a demonstration at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan in Itahari.
So far, the identities of 5 people who lost their lives in the protests in Kathmandu have been revealed. The deceased have been identified as Shree Ram Chaulagain, student at Global College, Sulav Raj Shrestha of Banke and Buddhi Bahadur Tamang, 42, of Kirtipur.
Likewise, Saurav Kishor Shrestha and Subash Pokharel died while undergoing treatment at KMC Hospital.
Genji had protested in Kathmandu today against the ban on social media. The protests have intensified after the police opened fire. Genji has intensified protests against the government in various parts of the country.
