Kathmandu. America is under great threat. This threat is natural, not from any country or terrorist organization.
Scientists have predicted a devastating tsunami in the US in the near future. A new study has found that by 2100, a devastating earthquake is sure to occur in the Cascadia Subduction Zone (CSZ) of the United States. This can happen any time in the next 50 years. Which has a 37 percent chance.
Scientists have warned of a tsunami 100 feet high. Which will destroy most of the west coast.
The Cascadia Subduction Zone is a fault line about 1100 kilometers long from the west coast of North America. Where the tectonic plate, the Juan de Fuca Plate, another tectonic plate, moves beneath the North American Plate. It stretches from Canada’s northern Vancouver Island to the southern half of the U.S. West Coast. Which extends off the coasts of Washington, Oregon and California.
Tsunami up to 100 feet
Scientists have warned that if an earthquake of magnitude 8.0 to 9.0 occurs, waves 100 feet high will rise. Which will devastate most of the west coast. Its shoreline will immediately sink by about 8 feet. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) estimates that an earthquake alone will kill 5,800 people. In addition, 8,000 people will die due to the tsunami emanating from it.
Cataclysmic havoc in America
The international team, led by researchers from Virginia Tech, said that these predictions will get worse over time as sea levels rise. “This will certainly be a very disastrous event for the United States,” said lead author Professor Tina Dura. There will be a tsunami and it will be devastating. ’
The study predicts that sea levels will rise by up to two feet by 2100 due to climate change. If there is no more major earthquake in the Kaskadia subduction area by then, rising sea levels are likely to cause more destruction and flooding than anticipated in 2025. – Agency
