According to the calendar, it is customary to celebrate Dhanwantari Trayodashi every year on the day of Kartik Krishna Paksha Trayodashi or Crow Tihar. Since Yamraj knows the news of the people through the crow, there is a classical rule that the crow is considered as the messenger of Yama.
