Kathmandu. At present, four small non-life insurance companies have invested more than Rs 2.27 billion in various sectors. According to the data released by the Nepal Insurance Authority( INSURANCEA), a total of Rs 2.27 billion has been invested by micro-life insurers till the third quarter of the current fiscal year. Nepal Micro is the largest investor. The company has invested Rs 637.5 million in various sectors.
The second is Star Micro. The company has invested Rs 571 million. Similarly, Protective Micro has invested Rs 524.9 million and Trust Micro has invested Rs 536.8 million.
Most of the investments of the four non-life micro-insurers are seen in fixed deposits of banks. A total of Rs 1.94 billion has been deposited by non-life micro insurers on fixed deposits of ‘A’ class banks. Out of this, Nepal Micro has invested Rs 493.7 million, Protective Micro Rs 488.5 million, Star Micro Rs 523 million and Trust Micro Rs 439.5 million.
Similarly, these companies have invested a total of Rs 153.6 million in ‘B’ category banks. Out of this, Nepal Micro has invested Rs 32 million, Protective Micro Rs 23.5 million, Star Micro Rs 42.5 million and Trust Micro Rs 55.6 million.
A total of Rs 51 million has been invested in ‘C’ category financial institutions. Out of this, Nepal Micro has invested Rs 6.5 million, Protective Micro Rs 5 million, Star Micro Rs 4.5 million and Trust Micro Rs 3.5 million.
Similarly, non-life small insurers have invested a total of Rs 1 million 62 thousand in ordinary shares of listed public companies. Out of this, Nepal Micro has invested Rs 96.4 million, Protective Micro Rs 7.9 million and Star Micro has not invested. Trust Micro has invested Rs 1.8 million.
Trust Micro has invested Rs 921,000 in preference shares, bonds, debentures and debentures of banks and financial institutions. Nepal Micro has invested Rs 4 million, Star Micro Rs 1 million and Trust Micro Rs 4 million in rock investment funds and mutual funds.
