Kathmandu. At a time when the news of the illegal arrest of journalists and civil servants has heated up the media, Prime Minister Balendra Shah has made public information through his Facebook page promising to help in the promotion of online games including Ludo. <\/p>\n
The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has remained silent on the issue at a time when media houses and media persons and civil servants (engineers) are demanding reasons for the arrest of journalists. These developments may be trying to indicate that the Prime Minister’s Office has not been affected or to send a message that the issue of promoting online games is more important than constitutional fundamental rights, press freedom and personal freedom. <\/p>\n
Journalists took to the streets on Saturday morning to protest against the arrest of journalists and the attack on the constitutional system. The Nepal Engineers’ Association has also condemned the illegal arrest of civil servants and warned the government to accept the supremacy of the law. <\/p>\n
After meeting with IT entrepreneurs who have created entertainment games including Ludo, the Prime Minister took to his Facebook page and expressed his commitment to make extensive reforms in the existing laws, policies and tax system to create conducive environment for establishing world-class ‘global unicorn’ companies in Nepal. <\/p>\n
He informed that the government was doing concrete homework to develop Nepal’s IT and gaming sector as a well-managed industry. <\/p>\n
