KATHMANDU: Three people have been killed and 10 others injured in an attack on an airport and oil facility in eastern Saudi Arabia. <\/p>\n
One person was killed and 8 others were injured in an attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam city on Wednesday night. The Saudi Civil Aviation Authority said in a statement that 8 people were injured in the attack. <\/p>\n
Officials have not said who carried out the attack, but Yemen’s Houthi rebels have repeatedly targeted Saudi airports in recent days. <\/p>\n
However, the Iranian-backed Houthis have not yet commented on the attack. The Saudi Civil Aviation Authority said in a statement that the injured suffered minor to serious injuries and that the material damage at the airport was being assessed. <\/p>\n
Earlier on Wednesday, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy reported that two people were killed and two others, including an Indian, were injured when the wreckage of a downed drone fell in Saudi Aramco’s Shayba oil field. The ministry said that a Nepali and a Filipino national were among the dead. An Indian and a Pakistani national were also among the injured. <\/p>\n
The ministry’s statement said that the contractor’s vehicle was also set on fire in the Shayba oil field when the debris fell. The Saudi-led coalition, which is seeking to restore legitimacy in Yemen, claimed to have shot down seven drones. The coalition’s spokesman, Maj. Gen. Turki al-Maliki, said in a post on X that four drones aimed at Saudi Arabia were intercepted and destroyed. He added in a second post that these drones were intercepted in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province and the Medina region. <\/p>\n
Al-Maliki later added that another drone had also been intercepted in the eastern province.
