Serious questions have been raised on social media recently about the quality of fiber internet service and the working style of customer service of Nepal Telecom, which has been promoted by Prime Minister Balendra Shah as an honorary brand ambassador. Former Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal’s complaint expressed through Facebook after the telecom service was disrupted and no hearing was heard through official channels, and the reaction of the general public to it has revealed the true picture of government service.

Khanal, the former finance minister, had faced the problem of his home internet not working for the last three days and calling the hotline number 198 of the Telecom’s customer service center dozens of times. When there was no official hearing, he made his problem public on Facebook.

Soon after, due to the influence of social media, Telecom official Dr. Shaligram Parajuli was actively involved in his problem. Although Khanal thanked him for this, this incident has raised a big question on the general public, if the complaints of a former minister and a distinguished person are addressed immediately, when and how will the general public get the service?

Parajuli said that the details of the people responsible for the maintenance and maintenance of the concerned area along with personal mobile numbers are also available on the website of Nepal Telecom and advised them to contact them. He has also requested to contact the Customer Service Center by contacting the same number as the mobile number of the office heads of the concerned service area is available on the Nepal Telecom’s {{TAG_CLOSE_a_12 TAG_OPEN_a_12}} website.

Many citizens have expressed their pain and reactions to the post of former minister Khanal. Most of the users have criticized the discriminatory working style of the government office, saying that it is done immediately after a big person writes on Facebook, but millions of ordinary people never get up when they call 198.

Service recipients have complained that dialing 198 is too busy, the phone is automatically disconnected or they have to wait for hours. Some have even said that they have to wait for months for the line to be repaired or connected.

Private Internet Service Providers such as WorldLink, Subisu, etc. are found to be able to solve the customer’s problem within a few hours or immediately by reaching the field. However, due to the lack of reliable channels to register complaints in Nepal Telecom and the slow pace of employees, customers are attracted to private companies, even though they are expensive.

Even if the branding is done from the Prime Minister’s level, such campaigns will not be able to save the credibility of the organization unless the grassroots service is improved.

Kathmandu.
