KATHMANDU: Govinda Sharma Gaire, a Chartered Accountant active in the field of taxpayer rights, tax policy and financial governance in Nepal, has been appointed to the Advisory Board of the World Taxpayers’ Association. Gaire’s appointment was made on the sidelines of the General Assembly and Conference of the World Taxpayers’ Association held in Krakow, Poland. The conference was held on Sunday, October 5, 2026. This appointment from the General Assembly of the Association provides an opportunity for Nepal’s taxpayers’ rights movement to represent it at the international level. <\/p>\n
The WTA, an international network of taxpayers’ organizations from more than 5 countries around the world, promotes the protection of taxpayers’ rights, a fair tax system, transparent public spending, and the concept of responsible government. Gaire’s appointment is seen as an important opportunity to expand collaboration between Nepal’s Taxpayers’ Rights Campaign and the International Tax Policy Dialogue. <\/p>\n
Gaire is the founder president of Nepal Taxpayer Welfare Society. He has been continuously advocating for the protection of taxpayers’ rights, raising awareness about taxation, improving tax administration and making tax policies more transparent and accountable. <\/p>\n
A Chartered Accountant, a Master of Management and a Bachelor of Law, Gaire has more than two decades of professional experience in financial and operational auditing, financial regulation and capital markets legal and compliance. His professional experience is expected to contribute to international debates on tax policy, tax administration reform and taxpayers’ rights. <\/p>\n
The concept of taxpayers’ rights emphasizes the obligation to pay taxes as well as the right to fair treatment, effective public services, the opportunity for independent appeal against decisions, and the right to a judicial hearing.
