Kathmandu. A Fly Dubai passenger plane from Dubai to Tel Aviv was suddenly diverted to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday morning. <\/p>\n
According to Israeli media, there was a fight between the pilot and the co-pilot during the flight. The plane then sent an emergency signal. This increased the fear of hijacking. <\/p>\n
Flight FZ-1073 took off from Dubai International Airport in the United Arab Emirates. There were about 150 to 180 people on board. Most of them were Israeli citizens. <\/p>\n
According to flight tracking website Flightradar24, the plane first sent a squawk code of 7700 about two hours after takeoff. This is a standard emergency signal. A few minutes later, it sent a code of 7500. That indicates unauthorized interference or hijacking of the plane. The plane then sent a second 7700. <\/p>\n
According to data from Flightradar24, the plane suddenly changed course over Saudi Arabia and began to descend rapidly. In less than two minutes, the plane descended more than 17,000 feet (5,000 meters). <\/p>\n
The plane then issued an emergency signal for about seven minutes. At 5:40 a.m. local time, the flight briefly entered Jordanian airspace. A few minutes later, it returned to Saudi Arabia and began landing. <\/p>\n
The plane was scheduled to land at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. However, it landed at Tabuk Airport in northeastern Saudi Arabia. <\/p>\n
Passengers told local media they feared for their lives as the plane began to descend. An Israeli official, speaking to Reuters on condition of anonymity, said: “Both pilots sent an emergency signal after the altercation.” However, it was not immediately clear whether both pilots deliberately sent an emergency signal. \u2019<\/p>\n
Amit Segal, chief political analyst for Israeli broadcaster N12 News, wrote on X that the two pilots appeared to have clashed during the flight. As a result, a high alert was issued in the Middle East. <\/p>\n
Reposting his remarks, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said the incident had put citizens and security agencies across the Middle East on high alert. “It’s fortunate that the situation has not escalated,” he said. \u2019<\/p>\n
According to the Jerusalem Post, the Israeli Air Force had increased its alert level in preparation for a possible emergency. The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office said the incident was not considered a hijacking. <\/p>\n
Earlier, three Israeli security officials told Reuters that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had discussed the flight with officials. The Israeli military said in a statement that army chief of staff Ayel Zamir had assessed the situation with the air force commander and other military officials. <\/p>\n
A Flydubai spokesperson confirmed that the flight “encountered an incident on the way”. “Our teams are working closely with the relevant authorities,” the spokesperson said. <\/p>\n
