Kathmandu. The government has estimated Rs 2.34 billion to revive the education sector affected by the devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa on August 26. <\/p>\n
According to the ‘Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment’ report prepared by the joint technical team of the National Planning Commission and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, 18 schools have been affected by the floods. Of these, 11 school buildings have been completely damaged and seven schools have been partially damaged. <\/p>\n
The school building as well as educational materials, furniture and other property inside the building have been destroyed. After the floods, more than 9,000 students have been disrupted in the area. <\/p>\n
It is estimated that Rs 10.5 crore will be required immediately to reconstruct the structure and facilitate teaching. The long-term restoration will cost Rs 2,23,82,17,500. <\/p>\n
The government has announced a ‘Assured Future Scholarship Scheme’ for the affected students. Five different organizations of private schools in Nepal have also committed Rs 1 billion to provide scholarships to the flood-affected students at the request of the government. <\/p>\n
The local levels have been facilitating the students affected by the floods to make arrangements in the schools of their choice to resume their classes immediately.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
