Kathmandu. Rasuwa, which has been badly damaged by the flooding in the Bhotekoshi River, has provided free satellite internet service in collaboration with Dish Media Network Limited (DishHome) and Eutelsat OneWeb to continue communication services. <\/p>\n
DishHome has taken this initiative to facilitate communication and information exchange in the affected areas affected by the floods on September 24. <\/p>\n
With the approval and coordination of Nepal Telecommunication Authority, DishHome in collaboration with Eutelsat has launched free One Web Satellite Internet service in the most affected areas of the country. <\/p>\n
As reliable communication service is essential for rescue, relief and coordination during the time of natural disaster, this service has been made available in the government offices, security bodies, rescue and relief camps and important coordination centers in the affected areas. <\/p>\n
This alternative connectivity provided through Eutelsat OneWeb’s Low Earth Orbit satellite technology will serve as an alternative to damaged terrestrial infrastructure. This will greatly help local administrations, rescue workers, and stakeholders involved in humanitarian assistance to coordinate in real time and continue data flow. <\/p>\n
DishHome is committed to providing necessary communication facilities to government agencies, security personnel and affected communities in this difficult situation of disaster management and rehabilitation. The service will be extended to additional locations that are high priority based on need until the telecommunications infrastructure is fully repaired and rehabilitated. <\/p>\n
