That&#8217;s 16 percent below the $50 billion average for the first six months of 10 years. <\/p>\n<p>Although the Swiss relay reduced the total damage, the risk of disaster has not diminished. Total insured losses from all events reached $48 billion in the first six months of 2026. In the first six months of June 2025, the average was $98 billion, and in the first six months of 10 years, it was $56 billion. <\/p>\n<p>Of the $48 billion in total assets this year, $42 billion were damaged by natural disasters, according to the data. $6 billion in damage is caused by man-made events. <\/p>\n<p>According to Swiss Rica, major storms accounted for the largest share of insured damage from natural disasters in the first half of the year.
