Kathmandu. Chairman of Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON), Dr Gopal Prasad Bhatta, has pledged to forward the necessary works to bring the Non-Resident Nepali (NRN) into the capital market. <\/p>\n
Bhatta made this commitment during a discussion held with the representatives of Non-Resident Nepalis at the SEBON office on Wednesday. “The government has set a programme to reform the legal provisions to allow Non-Resident Nepalis to participate in the secondary market of securities in the budget statement,” he said. Discussions have been started regarding the inclusion of the program in the capital market policy in 84 BS and the necessary work has been started. \u2019<\/p>\n
Bhatta expressed the belief that SEBON was ready to provide necessary facilitation in such a way that the skills, knowledge and capital of the Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) from developed countries could be utilized in Nepal’s infrastructure development. <\/p>\n
On the occasion, the representatives of NRNs said that an environment has been created for NRNs to invest in Nepal’s securities market due to the initiatives taken by the Government of Nepal and SEBON. They said that the investment company established with the joint investment of the government and NRNs will raise money by issuing ordinary shares to Non-Resident Nepalis and Nepalis living abroad through the public issue and invest the amount in the development of physical infrastructure of Nepal. <\/p>\n
In addition, the company plans to raise funds through bonds and debentures for specific projects in the future, and requested Sebon to facilitate the necessary legal reforms. <\/p>\n
The program was attended by senior officials including Sebon Bhatta. <\/p>\n
