MetLife Nepal and the School of Mathematical Sciences (SMS), a leading life insurance company in Nepal, have entered into a partnership to start a scholarship program aimed at producing future actuary professionals of Nepal. <\/p>\n<p>Although actuarial science is very important in the insurance and financial services sector of Nepal, there is a lack of skilled manpower in this sector. Under this merit-based scholarship programme, two outstanding students each year will be awarded scholarships during the four-year undergraduate study period. The new partnership is expected to enhance actuarial expertise in Nepal and help in developing more effective insurance solutions to meet the changing needs of customers. <\/p>\n<p>The selection of the students will be done through a transparent evaluation process. MetLife Nepal will bear the fees of the selected students for each semester of the four-year study period. Talented students from different educational backgrounds, including those who have studied in government schools, will also get equal opportunities in this program. <\/p>\n<p>In addition to the financial support, this collaboration will provide an opportunity to gain hands-on learning, internships, and professional experiences, establishing strong linkages between academic institutions and industry, which will enable students to tackle the real challenges of risk management and insurance sector. <\/p>\n<p>Actuaries play a vital role in insurance plan development, risk management, and ensuring long-term financial stability. However, the number of skilled manpower in this sector is still limited in Nepal. Through this initiative, MetLife Nepal believes that not only in personal career development but also in strengthening the overall financial system of Nepal. <\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the partnership, Nirmal Kaji Shrestha, Vice President and General Manager of MetLife Nepal, said, &#8220;At MetLife, we believe that access to opportunities will shape the future. Through this partnership, we want to support the talented students and contribute to the development of actuarial expertise needed for Nepal&#8217;s financial future.&#8221; \u201c<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the occasion, Nawaraj Poudel, Director of School of Mathematical Sciences (SMS), Tribhuvan University said, &#8220;This collaboration further strengthens our objective of delivering quality education and producing skilled human resources as per industry needs.
