The rapid construction of large and complex data centers around the world has fueled the demand for insurance. This is fueled by increasing investment in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, energy systems and semiconductor manufacturing. <\/p>\n<p>According to the Swiss RICO Sigma-2026 report, AI hyperscale capital expenditure is expected to reach $750 billion in 2026. Meanwhile, AI-related investments accounted for about 40 percent of U.S. GDP growth in the first three quarters of 2025. <\/p>\n<p>As global investment in AI infrastructure increases, business risk pools are being reshaped. &#8220;Reinsurance and insurance data center construction is complicated. &#8220;This includes physical risks, subcontractor dependency and delays and operational stages,&#8221; the report said. <\/p>\n<p>New AI data centers could cost more than $20 billion to build before devices are installed, and lenders are demanding significant insurance limits before financing projects. <\/p>\n<p>Swiss Rican modern AI data centers are larger than traditional constructions and more complex to engineer.
