MetLife Nepal has launched a new rider called “Critical Illness Plus”, which aims to provide immediate financial relief during life’s most vulnerable moments. The rider has strengthened the personal life insurance plan by providing a lump sum payment upon diagnosis of a critical illness. This will not only address hospital expenses but also the financial burden of post-treatment rehabilitation, loss of income and long-term care.

Critical Illness Plus is designed to be affordable and convenient. This rider who does not need a separate insurance plan can be easily connected to a qualified individual insurance plan. It will provide protection against 11 major critical illnesses including specified serious cancers, stroke, kidney failure, liver disease, heart disease and major organ transplants. As per the agreement, the benefit amount will be paid immediately upon diagnosis of the disease, so the insured will be able to focus on their treatment and health improvement rather than financial worries.

The lump sum payment feature of Critical Illness Plus offers more flexibility than just expense reimbursement health insurance. Customers can use the proceeds to pay for advanced medical treatment, overseas treatment, household expenses or other financial obligations. It will act as a reliable financial safety net for long and uncertain treatment periods.

Speaking at the launch of the rider, MetLife Nepal General Manager Nirmal Kaji Shrestha said, “Serious illness can change a person’s life at any time, in both health and financial aspects. Through Critical Illness Plus, we’ve made meaningful protection more accessible, affordable and convenient, so customers can focus on treatment and recovery rather than financial stress. ”

Along with this individual rider, MetLife Nepal has also strengthened its group critical illness riders. Employees and their families will now have protection options of up to 14 or 20 serious illnesses. This modification will significantly improve employee benefits while remaining cost-effective for employers. Furthermore, it further strengthens MetLife Nepal’s commitment to developing comprehensive safety solutions that address emerging health risks and customers’ real-time needs.

Kathmandu.
