Kathmandu. NLG Insurance Company Limited Salyan branch has organized an awareness and interaction program on agriculture and livestock insurance in Bagchaur Municipality-7 with the objective of bringing farmers under the ambit of insurance. <\/p>\n
Speaking at a program organized at the ward office on Wednesday, Anurag Bohara, chief of NLG Insurance Salyan branch, said that the company has been conducting a campaign to spread awareness about insurance by reaching out to the villages and farmers’ doorsteps. Stating that the agriculture and livestock insurance would help the farmers in risk management and financial security, he said the Company was committed to bring maximum farmers to the insurance facility. <\/p>\n
Chief guest of the program and Chairman of Bagchaur-7 Prem Bahadur Dangi urged the farmers to spread the information received during the program to the settlements and make the farmers aware about the insurance. He said that the need for insurance is increasing as it provides relief to the farmers in case of loss due to natural calamities, diseases and other risks. <\/p>\n
Provisions of agriculture and livestock insurance, insurance claim process, required documents and benefits were shared on the occasion. The meeting also discussed the issue of insurance related to food crops, vegetables, fruits and other agricultural products. <\/p>\n
The participants were informed about the ALIS system of agriculture and livestock insurance and all the processes from insurance issuance to claim payment will be done online. It has made the insurance process more transparent, simple and effective. <\/p>\n
Section Chief Bohara urged the farmers to take maximum benefit from the insurance premium as the provision of 80 per cent subsidy has been provided by the Government of Nepal. He also said that such awareness programs would be continued in the coming days as well. <\/p>\n
A total of 78 farmers and stakeholders from different settlements of Bagchaur Municipality-7 participated in the program. The participants found the program useful and fruitful. <\/p>\n
The program was conducted by Livestock Health Officer Tek Bahadur Basnet, ward members Dil Bahadur Oli and Damodar Oli, ward secretary Krishna Kandel, ward livestock technician Lalit Khadka, people’s representatives, employees and local leaders. <\/p>\n
