Kathmandu. Now, those who write ‘doctor’ in front of their name illegally will be punished with imprisonment of up to 3 years. <\/p>\n
The Nepal Medical Council (NMC) has issued a notice informing that action will be taken against those who prescribe doctors illegally. According to the notice, anyone who creates confusion about modern medicine by using the title (Dr) in front of the name of any person other than a doctor registered with the Nepal Medical Council or who is not registered in any discipline or council or recommending modern medicine will be found violating the provision of the Council Act. <\/p>\n
The council has issued an ultimatum to remove the doctor’s title from its official documents, prescription pads, clinic signboards, visiting cards and all social media sites within 15 days from the date of publication of this notice. <\/p>\n
A special monitoring team of the Council will carry out strict monitoring through on-site and digital means after the stipulated period. The council has also warned that if anyone is found using the doctor’s title illegally, it will file an offence as per the law. <\/p>\n
