Kathmandu. Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle has directed the Nepal Insurance Authority (NEA) to expand the digital system and focus on rural programs to increase insurance coverage. <\/p>\n
On the occasion of the 58th anniversary special issue of NRA, Finance Minister Wagle said that the main challenge and responsibility of the NRA is to reach out to the rural and low-income groups. He believes that more activism of the Authority is necessary for this. <\/p>\n
He also stressed on making the entire process from insurance to claim payment accessible to the general public through a digital medium. <\/p>\n
Accepting the fact that only half of the total population is under the insurance net at present, he suggested the Insurance Authority to expand its coverage.\u00a0Stating that it was imperative to raise awareness among the general public to expand the access of insurance, he stressed the need of making the insurance business more competitive and credible. <\/p>\n
He cautioned that the primary role of the Authority should be to protect the interests of the insured. The minister also expressed the hope that the authority, which is the government’s advisor on insurance, would provide suggestions for policy and legal reforms for the development of this sector.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
