KATHMANDU: The Office of the Auditor General has suggested to include eight types of serious diseases in the health insurance program. <\/p>\n<p>The Office submitted the fiscal year 2081 to President Ram Chandra Poudel today. This was suggested in the 63rd report of 82. &#8220;Arrangements should be made to link these 8 types of diseases with the health insurance programme and provide health services through a single system,&#8221; the report states. <\/p>\n<p>According to the report, the Indigent Citizens Drug Treatment Directive, 2080 has a provision to provide financial assistance for the treatment of eight types of serious diseases. This year, the Department of Health Services has provided treatment to 53,577 patients including heart patients, 12,073 kidney patients, 28,678 cancer patients, 108 Parkinson&#8217;s patients, 44 Alzheimer&#8217;s patients, 1,253 spinal injuries, 980 head injuries and 2,031 sickle cell anaemia patients.
